Weekly Message: August 30, 2026

Good evening Wildcat Families, this is Principal McNeill with your weekly message. We had an awesome start to the school year. As a reminder parents, cell phones and headphones are not allowed during the school day. Students should turn them off once they arrive to school and place them in their bookbag and may access them again at dismissal. Phones will be confiscated if used or visible during the school day. Please have a conversation with your student about the cell phone and headphone policies.

We also want to remind families of our dress code. Shorts, skirts, dresses, and skorts should be no shorter than mid-thigh. If your student chooses to wear jeans or shorts with holes, the holes must not be above mid-thigh, or they should wear tights or leggings underneath. Shirts must come down to the waist so that the midsection is not visible, and all shoes must have a strap or be securely attached at the heel for safety.

Please remember that the car rider lane has two lanes that merge into one. When the lanes merge, please be patient and allow other vehicles to merge safely with you. The inner lane is for passing only. Please do not stop or allow students to exit the vehicle from the inner lane. For everyone’s safety, students should only exit when you are in the designated unloading area. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work together to keep car rider safe and efficient!

Attention all Math I parents, there will be a parent meeting on September 8th from 5:00 PM - 5:30 PM virtually. If you have any questions, please contact the school.

Parents as a reminder, students are not permitted to place or accept food deliveries at school during the school day. Please do not send food deliveries for students.Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our school safe, orderly, and focused on learning!

Cheerleading tryouts will be September 1st, 2nd & 3rd until 5:30 PM. Football tryouts will be September 2nd & 3rd until 6:00pm. If your student plans to participate in any school athletics this year, please note that all eligibility paperwork must be completed online through DragonFly. In order to participate in conditioning, tryouts, or practices, students must have a current physical uploaded to their DragonFly account. All required information must be completed in full, missing information will prevent you from advancing or finalizing the forms. Weekly Message: August 23, 2026

Good evening Wildcat Families, this is Principal McNeill with your weekly message. Tomorrow is the first day of school! We ask that students arrive between 8:00 AM - 8:20 AM if arriving by car. Buses will begin unloading at 8:00 AM. Bus numbers and times will be posted in the Here Comes the Bus App. We strongly encourage families to register for the app using GCS code: 87491. Please have your student at their stop at least 15 mins ahead of time.

If you have a 7th grader, please be aware that North Carolina state law requires all seventh-grade students to have up-to-date Tdap and MCV vaccines by September 23rd. GCS is partnering with UNCG & the Greensboro Housing Authority for an opportunity at Rankin Elementary on August 25th from 2-6 pm. At this time, your child can complete a sports physical, immunizations and the NC Health Assessments all in one place. All students in grades PreK-12 are invited.

Girls' Volleyball & Boys' Soccer tryouts will be August 25 & 26 until 6:00 PM. Cheerleading tryouts will be September 1st, 2nd & 3rd until 5:30 PM.
